Show Cue System

So I have a lighting board that I am controlling via midi. I can only control the cross fader via midi to advance the cues. I was wondering if it is possible in SCS to control the speed of MIDI signals to output a value of 0 - 127 over X amount of seconds. Basically giving me a timed cue.... Any thoughts.

What lighting board do you have - brand and model? SCS doesn't have a facility to send mulitple MIDI messages to control a fade in real time, unless you can set up a MIDI file for the purpose. The general approach is to send a single MIDI command to the lighting board requesting the lighting board to do the fade.

Leprecon LP-1500 Series Memory Consoles.

I'm also currently looking at MIDI 'controllable' lighting consoles and hadn't come across the Leprecon, so thanks for that lead. It looks to me to be an ideal device for running from a MIDI file. If I'm reading it correctly it seems from the manual that a MIDI sequencer can be programmed from the Leprecon, including fades on individual channels, and then fine tuning can be undertaken afterwards. The Leprecon would then be triggered from the MIDI sequencer when played back.

You would program the MIDI sequence alongside,and in sync with, the relevant audio track. There are many software based MIDI sequencers out there, some very expensive and some freeware (http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MIDI_SEQUENCERS/ might be a good place to look).

Once you have created the MIDI file you can import it into SCS as an audio cue/sub-cue to start at the same time as the relevant audio cue.

Bear in mind that many other functions could also be undertaken by the same MIDI file . . . change patches on reverb devices, keyboards, guitar processors etc . . .
