Multi out on RME Multiface problem

Hi Mike,
Have been trying to set multiouts for my RME interface but don't seem to work.
Tried all the combinations in the audio driver page settings...i can only get out 1-2 mostly and sometimes even that doesn't sound after messing around with different options.
Meter shows the different outputs sometimes but no actual sound coming out of the physical box outputs.
Is there a multiout box you have tried that worked?

I've had another look at the screen shots you sent me, and realise the info I gave you about "unavailable speaker", although correct, is not necessarily applicable. Your screen shot of the Production Properties shows these device settings:

Code: Select all

Device
Name Physical Device Speakers/Outputs
------ ---------------------- -----------------------
FOH Multiface Analog (1+2) Left and Right (Stereo)
3 Multiface Analog (3+4) Output 3 (mono)
4 Multiface Analog (3+4) Output 4 (mono)
The short answer is that for device '3' you should set 'Speakers/Outputs' to 'Left (mono)', and for device '4' you should set it to 'Right (mono)'.

The reason for this is that the RME is publishing it's outputs as stereo pairs, which is a common approach. Each stereo pair only has two speaker outputs - left and right. So trying to use 'Output 3 (mono)' on a stereo pair causes SCS to try to use the 3rd speaker of a stereo pair, and this is what caused the "unavailable speaker" error shown in one of your screen shots. As each stereo pair only has a 'left' and 'right', then just use 'left', 'right' or 'left and right', as required, for each RME stereo pair.
