no pan

I just finished a show that i had a helicopter fade in and fade out and that worked easy enough, but i tried to add a cue that would pan to the left and auto start from the begining of the fade cue. the pan worked in the editor window but would not work out of the editor. i had the fade time set to 20 seconds with a manual start and the pan cue auto start 0 seconds after the start of the fade cue with the full pan done in 5 seconds. i just couldn't figure it out so i cut the pan out and finished the show.

any idea's what i did wrong?

thanks,

Hi all,

Just gotten SCS 10 and having this problem too.
It's either the pan works or fade works in this case.
Not both properly....fade became erratic.
I stated with a pan fade that worked.
I then added a new sub cue to make level fade...but this doesn't seem to work .
What i want to do is to fade in a file from left and panning to extreme right, any advice?

Please email me your cue file (the .scs file), and tell me which cues are not working corectly.

Hi Mike,
Sorry my fault....shouldn't have these 2 level/pan cues start at the same time.
When i had the 2nd pan cue go "after end" of previous level change cue, it worked.
Btw, i'm using RME Multiface with PCI card and have this error messg when i set the production properties for sound device as such.
Ill send you a screen shot.
thx

What's probably happening (as seen from your screen shots) is that you are trying to assign a stereo file to a mono output. Unfortunately there's currently a limitation in SCS which is the reason for the 'unavailable speaker' error message. If you have a mono output device then you can only play mono files to that output. There is an odd exception to the rule: the audio library used by SCS will downmix a stereo MP3 file to mono if necessary. So for your mono outputs you need either to select mono files, or mono or stereo MP3 files.

A fix to overcome this limitation is planned.

Hi Mike,
is there a way to run 2 sub cues, one control fade and another control pan at the same start time?

If you want to adjust level (fade) and pan on the same audio file cue, you can do that in a single level change cue - you do not need 2 sub-cues. Just set the required new level and the required new pan, and set the duration. See Q7.4 in the demo cue file for an example.

Hi Mike,

What if i needed the "duration" to be different for pan and level?
thx again.

Do you really need to have different durations? If so then you will need two sub-cues (or cues), but they cannot run together. So if, for example, the pan is to take 3 seconds and the fade is to take 6 seconds, then set up the first sub-cue to implement the pan and half of the fade, over 3 seconds. Then set up a second sub-cue with a relative start time of 3 seconds (so it effectively starts when the first sub-cue ends), with no change to the pan but with the second half of the fade, also over 3 seconds.
