Fade in/out

The fade in and out options in 10.x seem to be a bit screwy.
In 10.3, the drop down list for FADE IN has:
‘Standard’ - a straight line fade
‘Linear’ - goes fast then slow
‘Log’ - gives no fade in at all.
The FADE OUT options are:
‘Standard’ - straight line
‘Linear’ - goes slow then fast
‘Log’ - goes fast for a bit, then slow, then fast
‘Linear SE’ - goes slow then fast
‘Log SE’ - goes fast then slow
There seems to be little consistency and some are plain contradictory especially the log fade in. As far as I’m concerned, all I need for both fade in and fade out are 3 options - in brackets are what I always thought they were called but I could be showing my ignorance here:
Straight line (linear fade?)
Slow getting faster (exponential fade?)
Fast getting slower (log fade?)
Any chance of tidying these up?
Thanks.
