SCS 10 and Windows 8

Post by Mike Daniell » Tue May 06, 2014 5:29 pm

It appears that SCS 10 and possibly earlier versions may not be compatible with Windows 8. There are no known issues with SCS 11 and Windows 8.

With SCS 10 you may get a message about the millisecond timer having overflowed. This millisecond timer is set from the value returned by the Windows API function timeGetTime(). The Microsoft documentation states: "The timeGetTime function retrieves the system time, in milliseconds. The system time is the time elapsed since Windows was started." However, with Windows 8 the value returned seems to be totally unrelated to the time since Windows was started. This is not an issue with SCS 11, but it may be affect SCS 10, depending on the value timeGetTime() actually does return.
