video playback not smooth

Post by mmcg » Sat Oct 26, 2013 6:57 am

I've just downloaded the demo on a Windows vista computer. I can play a WMV file just fine outside of SCS, but when I create a cue and link to that same video, it stutters. I can view it on my second monitor and hear the audio portion just fine, but the video isn't smooth. I've tried changing the Video Renderer to VMR-7 Windowed, but that didn't fix it. The stuttering is both on the cue page and the second monitor. Any ideas? I'd love for this to work for me, but am not sure where the glitch lies. Could my computer just be underpowered? It will play these same videos embedded in a PP slide just fine.

Could you email me a diagnostic dump file? You can create this file by starting SCS and selecting 'Create Diagnostic Dump File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Dumps" under "Documents" or "My Documents".

Thanks, Mary. I can't see any reason for the jerkiness of the videos. I've run some similar tests here with the same 'Size' setting you are using, and they run OK.

Try turning off the Video Monitor display that's on the main SCS window. To do this, go to Options and Settings / Display Options and set Video Monitor Size to 'None'. Then click OK. You may need to close and restart SCS to gain the full benefit of this change.

If this does fix the issue then my guess is that you need a more powerful computer.
