SCS 11.2.3 Available

Post by Mike Daniell » Tue Aug 27, 2013 5:41 pm

Registered users with current update plans (including users who purchased or upgraded their SCS license during the last 12 months) may now download SCS 11.2.3 from the Members' Download page. Details are given below.

New and Changed Features in SCS 11.2.3
  • Using MediaInfo instead of xVideo to obtain information about video files. (xVideo is still used for playing video files.) This is to avoid occasional issues with xVideo reporting a problem with DirectShow filters.
  • Added a Special Start Requirements window, which can be accessed by holding down a shift key when starting SCS. For more information, see below.
  • Fixed a few errors.
If you have not yet upgraded to SCS 11.2 then I recommend you also read the Release Notice for SCS 11.2.1.

Special Start Requirements
Occasionally you may find you cannot get SCS started due to some issue with your machine or due to something that happened in your last run of SCS. One such scenario is if you drag the SCS main window to the secondary screen and then subsequently find the main window is hidden behind a black screen and you cannot get to it.

If you encounter an issue preventing you from successfully starting SCS then the next time you start scs11.exe (version 11.2.3 or later) hold down a SHIFT KEY while starting the program. SCS will then display:

Select any checkbox(es) you wish and then click 'OK'. SCS will then act on the checkbox(es) selected and start SCS. If you click 'Cancel' then the checkbox selections will be ignored. If you click 'Close SCS' then the checkbox selections will be ignored and SCS will be immediately closed.

The issue of the main window being hidden behind the black screen of the secondary window can usually be cleared by selecting 'Clear saved window positions and sizes'.

'Factory Reset' resets everything except your 'Favorites', and (of course) doesn't affect any cue files or device maps. If you select this checkbox and click OK then a message will be displayed asking you if you are sure you want to reset all options, etc.

For more information on this screen see Troubleshooting / Problem Starting SCS in the Help file.
