SCS Not recognizing Presonus Firepod

Post by Rick Malone » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:06 pm

Into the 2d week of a run and for the second time the op has reported that when he booted the system and opened SCS, it reported it could not find the sound device. Rebooting and reopening showed sound device but not the same driver as previously. What's happening? This has happened with two computers so it has to be something with SCS or set up of SCS. Help. Thanks

Should add running Win 7, SCS 10.7.5 and latest driver for the Firepod. Very simple show...FOH and 1 efx line.

If SCS cannot find the sound device then maybe the op is starting SCS too soon, ie before Windows has completed its own startup procedures and established a connection with the Firepod. SCS obtains a list of the available devices on starting SCS. This list is obtained from the BASS audio library, and BASS probably obtains this list from DirectSound.

Similarly, the names of the devices are in this list, so if the name has changed since the previous load then something outside of SCS must have changed. Note that names may be different on different machines.

Yes the Op may be starting SCS too soon. I have a test set up here at home...same Motherboard, memory OS and am running the same settings, cues and have not had a problem here yet. The routine is turn on Firepod, turn on computer. After boot is complete and the communication light is blue (indicated the Firepod is communicating with the computer), start SCS. Works fine so far. I have a 2d Firepod which I will test on another computer with different hardware (MB etc). This is the first time I have ever had any real problems with SCS or the Firepod and it really has be puzzled....but i will solve it.
