Midi IO assignment doesn't stick!!

Post by davidjmccollum » Mon Jan 24, 2011 9:02 am

I am fairly new to SCS, so forgive me if this has already been addressed. I am controling 3 projection computers over the network using ipmidi and then Bome's Midi Translator Classic to convert midi into the keystrokes that run power point. A bit of a messy method I know, but it fit our budget.

So I assign my midi ins and outs in Permanent Options and I have my midi device setup in my Production Properties. Everything works Great. I shut down and go home.

When I return and fire up the system I get the error ...

"WARNING! No MIDI Out or MIDI Thru port has yet been selected, so MIDI Send messages cannot be sent. To Select a MIDI port go to the General Options / Permanent Options / MIDI Devices & Control. OK"

I do this and everything works fine until I close down SCS and restart it. I run a backup and the samething happens there. One differance between the primary and back up is that the primary PC only sees the windows default MIDI output whereas the secondary PC sees all the MIDI outputs in SCS.

Any clue as to what is causing these MIDI IO glitches?

The MIDI port assignments are held in the Windows Registry, so there could be a registry permissions problem. Which version of Windows are you using?

Also, is ipmidi always started before you start SCS? The MIDI ports are checked when SCS is started.

btw, could you email or PM me your SCS User Name as I cannot find your registration from the information given.
