Some video plays back as visualization (fix in 10.7.0 RC1)

Post by Russell Ault » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:52 pm

Hi Mike,

The theatre I work at just purchased a new computer specifically for video playback capabilities (Windows 7 Professional x64, Core i5, 4G RAM, Radeon 5570, 2x1TB HD RAID 0) running SCS Pro 10.6.3. Video playback at first works very well (with only the odd glitch here or there), but after a while all video cues start showing up as a WMP visualization (I believe it's the one called "Scope") in place of the video; everything else continues working as expected. Reloading the cue in question doesn't fix the problem, and neither does loading a different video cue. Restarting SCS solves the problem temporarily, although it will reappear again in a fairly short period of time (enough so that SCS has to be restarted at least a couple of times per hour during a show). The problem seems to be real-time related, since the problem did not occur during a complete non-stop run-through of the show's cues.

Any thoughts?

I'm unaware of any reason why WMP visualizations should start appearing, but I notice you've see the topic about 10.7.0 which (by default) uses DirectShow instead of WMP. See my reply to your posting in the SCS 10.7.0 topic.

Still don't know what was causing the problem, but it went away after the video playback switch, so I don't really care anymore, either. :)
