Odd little bug in 10.3.1 (fix in 10.4.0)

Post by superspinner » Sun Mar 08, 2009 4:18 am

Hi,
I just installed 10.3.1 in the theater laptop (an oldish dell with an echo indigo card). The cuer started using it this morning in a rehearsal. I got a call like 10 minutes ago that they could not cue a song up in the middle by moving the little slide bar somewhere in the song and then pressing the play button below it. Whenever they did that it would just go back to the beginning. So I go over there, play with it for a minute and discover that if I haven't played the song, then if I move the slide bar and press play it goes back to the beginning. However, if it plays just a bit, even a second, I can move the slide bar and the plays from wherever I set it correctly. So the workaround is easy.

However, I'm in my studio and cannot reproduce this on my mega-workstation daw (xp pro sp2) or my vista laptop. The only difference is the laptop at the theater didn't yet have a mouse plugged into it and the cuer was using the touchpad.

A known bug on some systems?

I've looked into this and found it is related to the SCS internal mixer setting under Permanent Options / Audio Driver. If you have selected Do NOT use SCS Internal Mixer then the pointer position of the progress slider is ignored when starting the cue. A fix is ready for the next release.
