Output attenuated on Firewire 410 channels (SOLVED)

Trying to trouble shoot a problem with our system. We are currently using SCS 10.7.3 on a Lenonovo PC running XP (SP3) into an M-Audio Firewire 410 via a SIIG firewire PCI card. This has worked fine in the past. Recently however, we can only get normal volume output on channels 1/2. Channels 3-8 app...

Re: Sample buffer lost error

Mike: I eventually resolved this by removing version 10.6.2 and installing 10.7.3. Upgrading the M-Audio drivers didn't seem to help. The observed problems were inconsistent which I realize make it hard to figure out what might be going on. One consistent observation was that I could load a couple o...

Re: Sample buffer lost error

A bit odd. The "buffer lost" error means that the DirectSound buffer was "lost". This could be a driver problem or an SCS program error regarding the window handle used when initializing the device. Either way, I wouldn't expect the error to occur only for certain cue files. Make sure you have the ...

Re: Sample buffer lost error

Been playing around a bit with this and it seems to be related to their show file. A couple of other shows I have retained on the PC work fine.

It's a simple show so I'll just get them to rebuild the few cues but I'm still interested if anyone knows what the problem is/was

Thanks

Sample buffer lost error

Hi: Checking out a setup by others for an upcoming show I noticed they were only getting output through two speakers. Tried test tones and got success with Channels 1/2. Other channels gave the error: ProcName: playstream ProcTestTone Cannot play test tone Sample buffer was lost <Then the filespec f...

Time delay on outputs to multiple speakers

We recently ran into a problem where an audio track being played to three pairs of speakers was time-delayed to at least one pair. The cue sequence started with a track of a clock chime playing from speaker pairs 1/2 and 3/4. At a variable time into this cue, depending on the action onstage, the nex...

Re: SCS_MAFW410_VISTA

Hi Dan: For audio in our theatre, we have a Lenovo PC desktop running XP Pro. I use a Dell XPS notebook running Vista Home Premium to work on audio at home. As I indicated on the other thread "Anyone tried SCS under Vista?", we experienced no problems transporting a show prepared on the notebook und...

Re: laptop connection to mixer

I have used a couple of different notebooks feeding the headphone output into, either, two mono channels or one stereo channel on our mixer using the connectors Mike suggests. This worked fine. We have since upgraded to a Firewire external interface to take advantage of the added channel flexibility...

John: Good advice on keeping a mixer in the system. We have always included a mixer in the chain. Usually the PC inputs are directed to submaster or main mix outputs, but this time I tried using the direct outs available on our Mackie 1642. Using the direct outs, one can still quickly and smoothly s...

Greg: My community theatre technical experience has been mostly in lighting but I am now getting more involved with audio. Here are some thoughts from my ongoing slog up the learning curve. Since we started using SCS we have changed from a Soundblaster 7.1 card to an M-Audio 7.1 Revolution card and ...

Controlling microphone input with SCS

Mike: Thanks for the response. My interest was simply in enabling/disabling the mic between its cues so as not to pick up any unintended output from the actor who was offstage wearing a headset mic while manipulating a giant's hand. What can I say, it's Christmas! Sounds as if MIDI will do the trick...

Controlling microphone input with SCS

Can anyone offer me some general advice on using SCS to control microphone input during a live show? I am presently controlling an off-stage mic needed for our current show via the audio mixing board separately from the SCS cues. As we eventually want to be able to set up the audio for shows by usin...
