sound systems
The theatre Iam working for is in the throws of setting up a permanent sound system .Up till now we have borrowed or begged equipment to run performances which becomes very confusing and time consuming.I have been always using SCS 9.3 with out any problems .It is a multi use hall with poor acoustics that seats rnd 200 people.Any clues to Amps and Speakers would be greatly appreciated.Oh and of course at a theatre price range !

It depends what you mean by "theater price range". If you're talking a NYC Broadway theater, I suggest a Meyer Sound system that will cost you a cool quarter million dollars but will sound far better than anything else you can put in there.
If you're talking high school or community theater, then there are a number of smaller speakers you can look at. I use the self-powered Mackie SRM450s with matching Mackie subs (I have SRS1500, old ones, but the new ones are SWA1501.) Three in front (LRC), and two rear fills. Add a sub and you have a 5.1 sound system for under $5k brand new. And you could get all of this equipment used for probably under $3k.
I suggest you check out the ProSoundWeb and ControlBooth forums for more info.
