Production folder - cue audio file duplicate name problem

Post by nmcgann » Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:28 am

I have found that when making a production folder that multiple audio files with the same name (but located in different directories) are all replaced in the folder with the first file of that name.

e.g. :

Q1 uses this: C:\Audio\Show Stings\disk1\04 - Track 4.wav

Q2 uses this: C:\Audio\Show Stings\disk2\04 - Track 4.wav

In the show archived in the production folder both Q1 and Q2 will refer to the audio file for Q1 with the file path $(Cue)\04 - Track 4.wav. The second file is ignored.

I think the duplicate file names should be changed to something like name_1 (and name_2 etc.) in the production folder.

In the corporate awards show world where I operate there isn't always time to name the files properly - I have found myself ripping CDs just a few minutes before the show and scrambling to get music cues together.

I still want to use production folders as I usually have some of my music library on an external firewire drive and I like to consolidate all show audio on an internal drive pre-show.

I'll look into this for the next major release, which I'm working on now.
