Controlling SCS with Companion and Streamdeck from the same laptop

Post by NJAsound » Sun Dec 19, 2021 9:35 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to control SCS from a streamdeck through the companion app on the same computer but can't work out how to get it to work. All the settings seem to be via a network connection using companion on another network connected laptop.

I can control it using hotkey programming on the stream deck app fine but not through the companion app.

I have a time limited professional plus licence via the kind people at SCS to try this out. Any ideas how to set this up?

thanks

May not help but - I've not actually used Companion to control SCS but I use it all the time for other things on the same PC and usually leavce the Target IP and port blank and that seems to work for what I use it for.

But I would be interested to know the solution for future reference.

However, having researched a little - I would suspect that you need to turn on Remote Ap Interface in the options of SCS and set Target Port of the Companion Instance to 58000 - Refer to SCS help file and search for Remote App Interface. I don't have my Streamdeck with me right now so can't try it other than with the emulator which of course takes away the focus from SCS so I'm not sure what that will do, but might be worth a try if your pressed for time.

Just been doing a little bit more experimenting using Companion 2.2 and it seens the protocol in SCS has to be set to UDP - otherwise I've got it to work quite happily on the same machine. But it does look like you have to pout in the machine's IP address and Port set to 58000.
