Level "tracking"

Post by d_korman » Wed Jun 14, 2017 9:22 pm

Where a given audio file is used in multiple cues and/or sub-cues, it would be useful if, after making a level adjustment to one such cue/sub-cue using that audio file, it could optionally be automatically applied to the other sub-cues (previous, subsequent or both) that use the same file, either only in the current cue or in all cues.

I've been using Call cues and Callable cues when I want to use the same audio file multiple times without having adjust the level of each occurrence separately.

This technique works best if you want the audio file to play exactly the same each time - I've been doing this mostly for telephones, doorbells etc. However, you could probably use auto-start SFR and/or Level Change cues if you wanted some of the occurrences to play at a different level or fade out sooner, for example.
