Playing is Green but Nothing is Happening

Post by jodydonaldson » Sun Mar 06, 2016 11:09 am

I have a Lenovo laptop with intermittent problems. Sometimes when you press the spacebar, the green area says "Playing" and even though it says "Playing", nothing is happening. The Progress Slider isn't moving. So I press Esc and try it again. Sometimes it really plays and sometimes it doesn't. I was running 11.4.2, but upgraded to 11.4.2.2 to see if the weird problem would go away. The upgrade didn't fix it. Any ideas? Thanks.

I tried to attach the diagnostic file, but it said the extension "scsz" wasn't allowed. I saved it as a RAR file and have attached that.

There is apparently a "feature" of Windows that means Asio drivers don't work first time if you use them quickly after startup. I get this sometimes when I start the pc and start SCS immediately. If you close and reopen SCS it initialises the driver a 2nd time and all is fine. Maybe this is happening with you?

What operating system are you running?
Does your lenovo have a SSD?

I had problems before like this that HD is being used by windows so it seems to hold the track from playing but would work other times. I fixed this before by opening scs and then the task manager and setting scs priority to high. Which fixed this. But you have to do it every time you open scs. This was fixed when I upgraded the HD to a SSD. Normally only had the issue when running loads of tracks at once tho

I assume all your drivers are update?

I am having the same issue.
I was having trouble last night (about 5 hours before a show) syncing the video resolution to the projector. Having been using this program for over 10 years now, and feeling fairly confident of my understanding of it. I hit the "default display options" button the "options and settings" "Display options- Performance Mode" screen.
After I did this, when I hit play, the whole progress slider turns green. The video plays, but there is no marker that shows the progress, nor is there any drag'ability. It will only start at the beginning.
I have tried the systems manager - give priority option- no change. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I asked it on installation to reset all the settings. When I go into older shows, that used to play fine, they all are having the same issue. I have downloaded and installed 11.8.
I spent the 5 hours before the show, frigging around with every possible check and toggle, researching the issue- no luck. The file is a large video file for the Nutcracker ballet with background projections synced with the music. It the hinge of the show. Fortunately, the video ran and paused when it needed to "blind". Thank god- however, I have another show tonight and need help FAST!!!
I am using a MSI i7 laptop.

Thank you in advance! (in am Montreal Time zone btw)

So the video played OK even though the GUI didn't update?

A log file will have been created and saved as a zip file in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of the file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Please email me any relevant zipped log files, together with an explanation of what happened.
