Please forgive a newbie...

Post by Bawlmersound » Sat Jun 13, 2009 4:53 am

I used SCS once last year and loved it. Now my wife has given me her old laptop and I plan to purchase SCS Professional to use on it. I want to be able to send cues to multiple stereo outputs, and so I'll also need to buy an outboard sound card / box. Any recommendations? Looking for low-budget (less than $200 US), and really only need 4 outputs (4 mono, or 2 stereo pairs). The laptop runs Windows XP with all the up to date Service Packs.

Am considering the Gigaport HD by ESI, which has 8 outputs and is only $120: http://www.esi-audio.com/products/gigaporthd/

Also thinking of using two seperate stereo devices, such as the Behringer UCA202, only $30 apiece: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx

What have you all used that you like? And have had little or no compatibility problems with SCS with?

Thanks very much in advance.

M-audio Fast track Pro, will do all you want,
2 stereo outs,
2 inputs (one is mic/line with phantom power)
Midi in/out.

Used it for months on my laptop for show rehersals without a glitch. (XPpro SP3) running SCS Pro.
Hope this helps

Thanks Boswell! There appear to be several on eBay right now... think I'll go for it.

Greatly appreciate the help.

I have one too -- they work great :) Got mine for $120 used ... it has S/PDIF outs as well in the event you need to hook up to a digital board you can do a direct digital transfer :)
