Hi Mike,
I have just installed SCS on a windows 7 machine that has had all updates applied. On first run this error appeared with the demo file and going straight to the editor. I have used SCS for a long time with success on other machines. I have attached a dump file and screen print of the error.

Re: SCS 12.5 immediately crashes
First of all, it looks as if SCS hasn't been installed properly, because the dump file shows that xVideo was not initialised. Try uninstalling SCS 11 and then re-install SCS 11 by running scs11.2.5_win32setup.exe.
If that doesn't help, try the Special Start option. Select 'factory reset' and then click OK.

Re: SCS 12.5 immediately crashes
The log file shows that you have no DirectSound audio interface and SCS is obviously not handling that condition. What audio interface do you have? Is it a device that supports only ASIO?

Hi Mike,
following your last post I investigated further and found activeX hadn't been installed. Have installed it now and it is working fine.
Thanks for your help,
