Launcher crashes when updating/installing Remote app

I have discovered a weird problem with the remote app.

I wanted to update the remote app from Google play. Then when installing the app, the launcher (Trebuchet) crashes and keep showing “Unfortunately, Trebuchet has stopped” error. I could not stop the error popups even after rebooting, so I had to reboot my phone to factory settings. I have now tried to use a different launcher (Nova) and I still get the same crashing popups when installing the remote app. Fortunately, I did not need to reboot my phone to factory settings this time. Any idea what causes this problem?

I have a rooted Android 4.4.4 phone GT-I9300 with Cyanogenmod installed, and I have never tried this before with any other app.
