Flashing alert for paused / inoperable cues (part in 10.1.2)

Post by jkowtko » Sun Jun 08, 2008 5:07 pm

Related to an earlier thread -- "Removing / Skipping a SFR if cue it relates to is finished" --

1) It was suggested that cues which become inoperable, such as a stop/fade cue that has not been fired yet but the audio track ran out, blink to warn the user that this condition has occured. They still need to be dismissed manually to avoid accidentally misfiring the cue following.

2) Similarly, cues that have been paused and not killed or restarted within a few seconds should also start flashing to alert the user of their state.

3) Similarly, cues which are in firing position, and who's progress slider has been moved from the start position, should flash to alert the user that they will not be starting at the beginning of the track.

These are all scenarios where a deviation from the normal process has taken place. Fyi, I believe #3 just happened tonight -- one of our cues started in the middle, and the MD and I couldn't figure out why it would have started there. My first guess was that he played it halfway during rehearsal before house open and didn't reset the program, but after testing it just now it looks like the only way it could start in mid-track is if it was positioned there just before firing. The MD has been using the Left/Right arrows a lot to adjust volume of each track, and I think he either clicked on the progress bar by mistake, or somehow shift-Tabbed over to the progress bar, before hitting the arrow keys to adjust the slide. In any case, if the cue had started flashing it might have alerted him so that he could reset the cue before starting it.

This has been added in 10.1.2. If the 'Next Manual Cue' has nothing to do because it is an SFR or Level Change cue that operates on an Audio File cue that has already completed, then a warning message is displayed in the status line at the foot of the run screen.
