Go Button

I'm not as familiar with the current version of this software as opposed to earlier versions, but hopefully this will still be relevant.

I know in preferences, you can set the SPACE bar or the ENTER key to trigger the go button.

I think you should go farther than that.

I have always had reservations and issues about using the mouse buttons to control GO in shows. Simply because you have to be aware of the mouse pointer and where it is located (go only works if the pointer is within the SCS window). Also, in most computer systems, the mouse is used for EVERYTHING, so it is problematic to make this always trigger go.

My suggestion is this:
On some computer games I've played you can select different keys (or mouse buttons) for different control functions (go, back, stop, etc.).

I would really like to have the ability in preferences to reassign certain show operation buttons to wherever I'd like. So it could be "G" or "F7" or "Space" or "right click" or "left click". Give me the option to choose what works best for me. And if I choose to change the GO button, then don't have left-click still work as GO in addition to the new key.

This might also open the door for more flexible external USB-type controls for main functions, because you could simply (and cheaply) add an additional programmable mouse or keypad, then just program GO to coincide with one of those buttons.

Does this make sense, or did I overcomplicate it?

EDIT:
In short, I'd really like to be able to TURN OFF right click as the go button.

Just in reply to your idea about using an external device for triggering the cues...

I use a laptop to run SCS, and I attach a cheap USB numeric keypad to it, which effectivly gives you a remote 'Enter' key which I use to trigger cues. This is really handy as it means you can site the computer visible, but out of the way, and just have the small keypad next to the mixer.

Works for me!

I think the USB keypad cost something like £7 off ebay.

Yes, thanks - I knew that.

But I'd really like to disable "Right Click" as a go button. Too easy to hit it by mistake...

I'd love to see even more remappability.
I keep trying to use jkl to reverse, pause and fast forward (standard in Final cut pro) so being able to remap like a game as you please would please me.
