[In 11.4.1.1] X32 as Cue Control Device

Post by Onno Rietveld » Wed Jul 22, 2015 6:15 am

I like to use the OSC protocol to send to "Go" and "Stop" commands from the X32 to SCS. I have seen the UDP option already in the Cue Control Devices.

My wish is to assign some of the "user programmable" buttons on the X32 to start/stop a cue in SCS (at least “Go” and “Pause All”). Today I can do this with Midi but it saves another connection type (OSC, Midi, ASIO...) and with e.g. the Dante interface from the X32 there is no Midi support (except on the physical Midi-ports). Maybe the "remote control for DAW" commands from the X32 can be used to send those commands to SCS (they can also be assigned to the user buttons).

Thanks, Onno

A pre-release of this feature (undocumented) is included in SCS 11.4.0.3. The general release is scheduled for 11.4.1.

you can actually do that, connecting the x32 and the scs computer via a single USB cable. since the usb is capable of sending an receiving audio and midi signal simultaneously.

Yes you can, but you also need the Ethernet (IP) connection to transfer OSC commands form SCS to the X32. With the new version of SCS you will use OSC (over Ethernet) for both sending and receiving commands to/from the X32. The USB conneciton is only used for audio and can be replaced by any audio interface without midi (like the Dante card).

Kind regards, Onno
