Show Cue System

As if you haven't got enough to do!

Would it be possible to "track" a second computer. I was thinking along the lines of trapping any cue sent to the master computer which could trigger via midi or ethernet to a second backup computer. Not true tracking but good enough for emergency use. To be of use this would just be an on/off option using an "out of the ordinary" midi command so it would not interfere with any "proper" commands.

How does everyone else feel about this?

I take it then that nobody uses a backup computer?

I use a backup computer. I've never had a problem while doing a play. But I was DJing a dance once, when I pluged in my computer it blew the power supply. I had to do the show off CD's. After using a computer for so long, switch back to CD's was no fun.

So I built me a system that has two computers, two flat panel monitors, and a 7 channel mixer in one case. I use a KVM switch to change between the keyboard, track ball, and the USB ports.

I have a M-Audio 410 sound card in the main computer. And a Terratec DMX 6 Fire in the backup. (Looking for another 410 for the backup) The computers are USB linked together. I make a directory for each show I do. I put all the audio files and the SCS file in it. After I get the main computer set up the way I want it, I just copy the directory to the backup.

Both computers and Sound Cue System programs are up and running, I'm just one mouse click away from continuing the show should the main computer crash.
