Renumbering Cues (in 9.2.1)

Hi Mike,
It would be really useful, in the edit window, to have a button which will automatucally renumber the cues. What I mean is, sometimes I have been setting up a show, and either added or deleted cues, so that the cue numbering might go, for example... 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 etc, or 1, 2, 3, 3.1, 4, 5..., or there have even been occasions where cue have been moved up or down the list, resulting in 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 4, 7, etc. I would find it useful to have a simple option to automatically re-number the cues from 1 upwards, so they make sense!
Would anyone else find this useful

Yes I would. I suggested this some time ago but most systems were used in theatres so didn't have to do this very often. I am on tour at present and have five acts which rotate every day (pain). Cue renumbering would be a great benefit to me

That would be a nice feature provided we still have the ability to have free-format cue numbers - or the ability to define cue number format using a picture, eg 999.9a, and that the ability to renumber could be turned off to prevent anyone re-numbering the cues,as the last thing we need in the theatre is for someone to renumber all the cues AFTER the book has been written up!

I'm not sure about a number format, and renumbering would certainly not be automatic. What I'm considering is a 'Cue Renumber' button in the Production Editor. Clicking this button would popup a simple dialog which asks you for a starting cue number (eg Q1) and the range of cues you want to renumber (default all cues). With the starting cue number, SCS would generate cue numbers (labels) as it does now for adding a new cue, ie treating the leading non-numerics as a prefix and then incrementing the numeric portion. The popup dialog would also have a Cancel button. As with any change in the Editor, if you close the editor without saving your changes then your original cue numbers will be reinstated.
Note that with SCS 9 you can set password control on the Production Editor to prevent unauthorized changes after you go live. I could also include a checkbox in the Production Properties to indicate that the existing cue numbers should be frozen. You could easily un-freeze the cue numbering by clearing the checkbox, but at least this would have to be a deliberate decision and lessens the likelihood of renumbering the cues after the book has been written up.

Brilliant. That sound exactly what I need!
Thanks!
