Show Cue System

Hi Mike, I've just finished our 7th year of using SCS to work miracles. Circus Juventas is the largest youth circus arts performance school in america and we put on about 35 3-hour performances each year. SCS allows us to come closer and closer to Cirque du Soleil quality, timing, sound effects, and smooth running. So I need to publicly pass on the kudos to you!!

My need... circus acts can sometimes be unpredictable... sometimes I need to magically lengthen or shorten the music on the fly.
Even though I can predict some issues and pre-build in loops, and xfades to tag endings, there are still many times where I need to have more ability.

Solution... Can you put the waveform graph under the Cue Panel Progress Slider?

I would think it is possible since you have already done the pre-scanning in the editor, and processors have a lot more horsepower now.
(If there is a window size scaling issue, I would be happy if the progress sliders didn't scale with the window width)

By doing that, I can visually SEE the various "phrases" in the track and can instantly click forward or backward to an "appropriate" place in the music instead of random guess. This would be a HUGE help! Opening the Editor and trying to do it there isn't an option... that kills other loops, autostarts, etc.

ALSO, since I frequently edit music wav files after initially building a show... I need an SCS function (or command line) that will replace the previous scan graph with the current audio file graph. This is especially true when I have changed the length of the track. I have tried several tricks but because SCS even seems to cache old graphs in session, the only way that works is to Delete the Cue, Save the file, Exit, Open SCS and create a new cue (trying to remember all the other settings)

This is a feature I've considered myself but haven't got around to implementing. What I'm considering is placing the waveform in the slider, replacing the pointer with just a vertical line and removing the markers. In other words, it will look like a compressed version of the waveform graph that's displayed in the editor, but without the time markers below the graph (it will still display the count-up/count-down timers).

Seems like a bug. SCS should clear the cached graph if it finds the audio file's timestamp or length has been changed.

Here's another request along those lines ... while editing cue lists I sometimes will edit a waveform outside of SCS (e.g. Audacity) and want to reload it in SCS. It would be nice to have a RELOAD button in the Editor, both for audio and image and video cues, basically anything that can come from disk and change.

An option to show either the waveform or slider in the cue panel would also be nice if/when you add the waveform display.

The display of waveforms would be of great use to me, albeit for different reasons.

I often use SCS for backing tracks for variety type events, since I prefer to operate via a laptop rather than juggle CDS (and iPods, tapes, minidiscs, etc... )

Performers frequently turn up at the last minute and throw me a CD with their music on, and we often don't get a chance for a sound check. Unfortunately I often get tracks that are badly mastered with huge changes in volume half way though, and others that are just very quiet. Obviously I can make a note of this when I import the audio file, but a waveform displayed in the playback window would let me ride the fader with confidence!

Something I saw the other day on AC3 mastering software I think would fit in perfectly here.

There is a full waveform display and while there is the expected position pointer for where the playback is, the height of the waveform is tied directly to the volume control so you can see in advance how high/low the levels are and if anything is going to clip based on the current settings. It adjusts in real-time as the clip plays and the volume is adjusted.
