RE thinking the outputs

Post by Alabau » Tue Mar 30, 2010 4:39 am

This is kind of a major change and maybe I am the only one that would like to see this happen but I would love to see the output routing and Multi Channel files get an overhaul. I like the idea of devices and the ability to pan (unique to SCS) but it can lead to some limitations. For example if i have 2 output pairs and for a particular cue I am playing a stereo file and I want the left to go to the left channel of one pair and the right to go to the left of another pair there is currently no easy way to do this.

I have thought of 2 solutions to this Problem. Below is what I imaging is the much simpler solution. The second is much more complex but would also allow for many more possibilities in design. It will be detailed in a separate feature request

The simple solution would be to add a reverse button to the device selection in any given cue so I could select by cue any device and reverse which channel goes to which side. This would allow the right channel to be panned to the left speaker of a particular device in a cue but leaving the other devices running the same. Along these lines it would be nice to also be able to select a Mono setting so I can send a stereo track to both channels but bridged to mono so both the left and the right parts of the device are getting the same summed signal like scs already does when sending stereo files to mono devices.
