Import Cue List

Post by Ryclark » Tue Oct 03, 2017 8:47 pm

I have just used SCS for the first time on a very complex sound cue production. Worked very well. In fact I wouldn't have been able to do it without SCS.

However programming in all the cues took for ever since the system is based on importing media files to produce new Cues. Since most of the shows I seem to get involved with start off with a cue list document of some sort (MS doc or xls) produced from the script it would be great if there was some way to import a Cue List from an external source in order to create the foundation for each new production.

The easiest way to create your Audio File Cues en masse is to use 'Add Audio File Cue' and multi-select the files. For example, if you multi-select 20 files then SCS will create 20 Audio File Cues - all in the one operation. You can then adjust each cue as required, or change the order by moving cues up or down the list. If you do change the order you can then renumber the cues.

You can also drag-and-drop multiple audio files into SCS - see Drag and Drop in the Help.

Probably not recommended by Mike but . . . A cue file is written in xml and it is pretty easy to knock up a large set of cues with a text editor or word or excel. Create a little cue file first to get a template. I have used this technique to « automatically » create a version of my current cue file with multiple linked stem audio sub cues to replace my (stereo) backing tracks.
