'Stopwatch cue' & 'Level change for all playing cues '

Post by mwfr » Tue Apr 28, 2015 4:11 am

Mike, I have 2 suggestions for SCS :

First one has been suggested by a theater sound technician I know.
He'd love to have a 'stopwatch cue' function. In theaters in France, main technician calculates every night the duration of the show (it is interesting for actors to know if they were speeder or slower than the day before). Sometimes the technician forgets to put the stopwatch on.
So he suggested me the function "stopwatch" integrated as a stopwatch 'on/intermediate time/off' cue that would start at first cue, and stop at the end of last cue.

Second suggestion is something i would love : i use hotkeys all the time, for stop, and for fade out, so i'd love to do the same for 'Level change'. Do you think it could be possible to add a choice in 'Level change menu/Cue or Sub cue whose level/pan is to be changed' : All earlier cues / all playing cues etc. (just as it appears in 'Stop/Fade menu'.
That would allow to change levels of any current playing cue 'on the fly'.

See in here joint file how this function could be integrated

Have a look at the Production Timer feature. Does this provide what you need?

In Production Timer Actions locate the last cue of your show and set the action to 'pause timer when cue ends'.

Thanks Mike.

Here joined a small Stopwatch SCS session (for beginners), that works with F1,F2,F3 Hotkeyskeys.
You can integrate it into all your SCS sessions.

I use a similar system, but only as an override, e.g. the show timing is normally done automatically, starting with the first cue and ending with the last, but with the hot-key option to pause and resume during rehearsal when the director is giving some direction.

A nice feature would be the ability to return some timings for each act and also for interval(s).
So Timer would start with say Q1 at the top of the show , then an event for end of act / start of interval
At end of interval you would have an event for end of interval / start of next act and then one at the
end of the performance. ( maybe the option for more acts/intervals for longer performances )

You should be able to do that now. Note that in the Production Timer setup screen you have the option to request the production timer history be saved to a csv file, which can then be loaded into Excel or any other suitable program. So set the timer actions to start and stop as required for each act, etc, and then the timer history file will give you the information you need.

I'll consider this for a future enhancement, but note that you can already use the shortcut keys Shift+F11/F12 to decrease/increase the levels of all playing cues.
