Hello there

I've got an 8-channel audio interface, which I would like to use to simultaneously play back two 4-channel WAV file cues on. I have no problem creating one 6-channel output (using the "5.1" speaker setup), and one 2-channel output (selecting the remaining two channels as stereo output).

Sadly, there is no 4.0 (quad) speaker assignment available. Only 1.0 / 2.0 / 5.1 / 7.1. Is that a limitation of the underlying layers (ASIO, BASS etc), or is this a feature that can be added in SCS?

Having two extra channel settings ("Quad (1-4)" and "Quad (5-8)" for example) would be perfect!

SCS 10.8 provides this facility. In SCS 10.8 you select the number of channels you want to assign to each output device, and that can be any number in the range 1-8.

Edit: Just to clarify this, "each output device" as mentioned above refers to a logical device as named in your SCS Production Properties, eg 'FOH'. Overall you can use many more than 8 output channels if your SCS license permits.

Installed 10.8 RC 3 ... and the device mapper does exactly what I need! And the Sound Devices Tab in the production properties dialogue is now also a lot more intuitive, too. Thanks a lot, that was a very worthwile addition

hi mike, what i find with using a quad setup is that i can only edit the displayed stereo waveform. is there a toggle i need to switch in settings to see the waveform in 4 channel? what can i do to for example have each channel fade out at different times?

The audio graph displayed in SCS doesn't really handle more than 2 channels (ie stereo). What happens is that the odd-numbered channels are displayed as 'Left' and the even-numbered channels as 'Right'.

If you want to control the levels of individual channels (other than by panning left/right) then you will need to purchase the optional extra of SoundMan-Server (SM-S) provided your sound interface supports ASIO. With SM-S you can then select the track (channel) to go to each output, and set the level of that track as required. See 'Tracks' under Audio File Cues for details.
