Option to take cue description from filename rather than metadata

Post by Tewkesound » Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:17 pm

Dragging a file into the editor window creates a new cue, and attempts to populate the cue description from the file metadata, or from the filename if there is no metadata set. It would be really useful to have the option to force this to use the filename instead of the other data.

For example, if I have a music track called "01 Intro music.wav", I would like the cue description to be "01 Intro Music" rather than the actual name of the track as recorded in the metadata.

This choice could be presented each time, or there could be a master setting to select the preferred default action.

As a related further ask, I often drag and drop groups of files into the editor, making use of the "create playlist or add separate cues". It would be really useful to me if the order of the created cues was based on the filename rather than being (apparently) random.

Thanks

Rob

I'll look into providing the ability to change the default description to the filename instead of the file's 'Title' property. I think this should be on a per-file basis rather than a global editing option, as I would assume the file's title property would usually be preferred.

With drag-and-drop, the order is the order in which Windows passes the file list. I have found that if I select a range of consecutive files then the most reliable first-to-last order is by clicking on the last file and then, while holding down shift, clicking on the first file.

Thanks Mike.

Thanks for the selection order trick as well - that seems to work really well.
