[Resolved] OSC: network Out Device "server:port=192.168.1.101:7000" cannot be activated and don't work UDP sent messages

Post by Gubbio67 » Sat Feb 12, 2022 7:20 am

Hi when I try to control Resolume Arena through SCS on the same computer I cannot activate Scs like a client server.
It cannot connect and I don't know why.
If I send a message ASCII to the same adress and port through another program, Resolume works like a charme.

Scs gives me errors.
I'm on the new release candidate 7

Can you please check?

I tried also changing IP server to 127.0.0.1
Same error. Can I command another program on same computer?

Thanks for the info you emailed me. You need to change the Network Protocol to UDP. I've confirmed that here using IP address 127.0.0.1, Port 7000.

Hi Mike, with UDP I can open the port but the message doesn’t arrive to Resolume.

Look at the screenshots between scs and multiplay (the application I used before), the configuration is the same but also on multiplay, if I set it to plain UDP (I think the same situation on scs), Resolume doesn’t work. I need to set multiplay to osc and it works. On SCS I don’t have this possibility.

I sent the screenshots through mail.
Maybe I need to set to send a free osc format... But where is it?

Thank you for your attention

Unfortunately I can't make the connection work either, and I was mistaken when I said it should be UDP, as TCP is the required protocol. I also tried a simple TCP Client test program that I've used many times before with other software, and that also times out on trying to connect to Resolume.

SCS successfully connects to various other software products via TCP, so I don't know what's going on with Resolume. Has anyone successfully connected SCS to Resolume Arena?

It doesn't send nothing also to protokol (I use it to check if the osc command is sent or not) or reaper.
Maybe an error with latest versions?

The problem is that it gives me the error device cannot be activated, it doesn't depend on Resolume, it gives an error inside scs

I'll need to look into this more. I've just run tests here trying to connect SCS 11.8.5, 11.7.1.3, and 11.6.2.1 and none of them will connect to Resolume.

But SCS connects successfully to vMix and SoundMan-Server. With vMix I have IP address 127.0.0.1, Port 8099, Protocol TCP. With SoundMan-Server I have IP address 127.0.0.1, Port 20000, Protocol TCP. All these connections, including the attempted connection to Resolume use exactly the same 'Open Network Connection' function. Only the IP address and Port number are different.

Hi Mike, the problem is still present also with version 11.9.
I'm trying to send osc command to lightfactory too but I receive the same error.

I've emailed you the results of a test I have run, successfully sending a Control Send message from SCS to Resolume Arena.

It appears that Arena requires a UDP connection, and that the address must be 127.0.0.1, not 10.0.0.1 as displayed in the Arena OSC Preferences. Port 7000 is correct.

Thank you! Now it works by setting "other osc device", port 7000, IP 127.0.0.1! I can now send messages in free format to the other programs too by setting new network out, same preferences and only different ports
