[Fix 11.6.1] Cue Panel behaviour in 11.6.0

Hi Mike,

I have noticed some odd behaviour in 11.6.0 64-bit which differs from 11.5.2.4 32-bit, the previous version I have used. The cue panels normally show the fade in and fade out times relating to the cue, and for all the cues in the file. However, if one repositions the cue list by clicking in it or using the arrows these fade times all disappear. Clicking in a cue again may show the fades for the current and next cue, which may or may not "stick". The fades only reappear if one reloads the file.

I have set up some hotkeys F1, F2 and F3 to action note cues, which I use to start and stop the production timer independently. Using these hotkeys has the same effect as repositioning the cue list, i.e. causing the fades to disappear. I also use '0' on the number pad as a hotkey for a 'Stop All' cue; this has the same effect on the cue panels. In addition, using the number pad (any key) now causes a Windows beep. Although in my production laptop I suppress Windows sounds, I don't on my design PC. Up to 11.5.2.4 using '0' on the number pad didn't cause a beep. It does now. Both machines are running Windows 7 64-bit. I had a bit of a fright when I thought that the timer wasn't working, as I have a production tomorrow. It seems that installing 11.6.0 had not picked up my preferred option of a separate timer window and had forgotten its size.

The above behaviour applies to both PC and laptop and I have swapped to and fro between versions several times.

Managed to reproduce and fix that error. Fixed in 11.6.1 RC1 which I've just uploaded.

I've had one other user report keyboard 'dings' and he emailed me a recording of the 'ding'. The sound being played was "Windows Background.wav" - is that the sound you are hearing? It is one of the sounds in the Windows Sound Scheme. SCS 11.6 does handle the keyboard differently to 11.5, but I can't see any reason for this to cause keyboard beeps.

Strange. I can't reproduce that problem here. If in 11.5.2 I set up the production timer to display in a window and then drag that window to where I want it, then close SCS and open the cue file with 11.6, the timer window is displayed correctly (when the timer is started). Can you email me a diagnostic file?

Downloaded and installed 11.6.1 RC1 and can confirm that the cue panel behaviour is back to normal.

The sound I am hearing is described as "Windows Default Beep" and the file is "Windows Ding.wav". I now realise that is occurs when any alphanumeric key, including the number pad, is pressed. However if the SCS main window focus is lost, the effect may not happen until the first cue is played or one clicks in the cue list. Repeated presses seem to have a double click timeout of about 1 second.

I can't reproduce the timer display problem myself at the moment, despite following a similar action to yours. Perhaps when loading 11.6.0 for the very first time it picked up the default display options which includes the timer in the status bar in Design Mode and a separate window in Performance Mode. I work with a separate window for both. Or I may have clicked the default button when trying to change the Audio Graph colours back to SCS Classic.

I am, however, sending a diagnostic file in case it helps with the 'beep'.

OK - thanks for that info. I can now reproduce the problem so I now have to work out how to prevent Windows playing that 'default beep'!
