I’m running SCS 11.3.8 on a Dell laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium.
The show I am having trouble with was created on a Dell desktop running Windows 7 Professional.
The audio and video cues that I imported into SCS were supplied on flash drive by a dance company that will be performing on my stage.
The show contains two video cues; one is .mp4 that runs well on both computers and the other is .wmv that locks up on the laptop. Since the laptop is my production computer, this is a problem that I need to resolve.
After reading the help files, I changed video rendering on the laptop from VMR-9 Windowless to VMR- 7 Windowed. This solved the problem and both video files play properly in the cue stack.
I would like to be able to run all video files as VMR-9 Windowless. Is this possible?
I have a diagnostic file but can't seem to upload or attach it.
The above problem only occurs when the computer is set for extended desktop.
Thank you.

Re: video problem in 11.3.8
It's unusual for a wmv file to give problems, especially locking up the computer. I presume there's something non-standard in the file, and it may be worth trying to convert the file. I've occasionally used the NCH Prism Video Converter to overcome formatting issues. Even 'converting' a file from wmv to wmv can sometimes fix issues.
Another option is to switch the video driver from xVideo to DirectShow - unless you need video fades (because video fades are not supported when using DirectShow). However, since you'd prefer to stay with VMR-9 Windowless rather than switch to VMR-7 Windowed, you probably want to leave your production computer with the SCS default settings.
So I suggest you try converting the file to see if it will then play OK with the SCS default settings.

Re: video problem in 11.3.8
Mike
The NHC video converter did the job. I converted the wmv file to wmv in a different folder. The file grew from 17.3 meg to 24.8 meg. I restored my SCS settings to VMR-9 windowless and the file ran perfectly in extended desktop.
Thanks for the help and the introduction to NHC Prism.
