why two..JPG
Here is what I see- two controls for each output in use. One for an output not is use in this cue.

I have come across a really annoying thing that I hope someone can help me with. On the playback screen, the audio cue usually has a volume adjustment "slider" and a Pan "slider" for each output pair. While working on a show tonight, the operator was asked to bring the volume down. when she did so (from the edit screen), and played it back, there was no difference. We adjusted it several time until i asked for it to be put all the way out, but still no difference! WHEn I checked to see what the heck was going on, I noticed that each output that was used had TWO sliders, with a label "front/front" and "back/back". Any output not used had simply one slider" (when actually it should have had no indicator at all). As seen below.

Newest update had no effect. Device list shows only three output pairs- front, back, lobby.

That's strange. I haven't seen anything like that before. Could you email me a diagnostic file? You can create this file by starting SCS and selecting 'Create Diagnostic File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Diagnostics" under "Documents" or "My Documents".

Thanks for the diagnostic file. It seems the cue file was somehow corrupted, with the 'Front' device and the 'Back' device being recorded twice for many of your cues. I can't think how that could have happened, but I've emailed you a revised version of your cue file with these duplications removed.

I've just worked out how the device duplication must have occurred. The following will reproduce the problem:
  • Set up an Audio File cue (say Q14) to send to 'Front' and 'Back' in device positions 1 and 2.
  • In the editor, scroll down the device list to display devices 5-8. These devices are all blank.
  • You now think (incorrectly) that no devices have been assigned to the cue so you assign 'Front' and 'Back' to the first two positions, but these are, in fact, assigned to device positions 5 and 6.
  • Q14 now has 'Front' assigned twice (in positions 1 and 5) and 'Back' assigned twice (in positions 2 and 6).
  • While the device list is scrolled down to shown devices 5-8, if you click on another Audio File cue in the editor then this scroll position doesn't change and will still display devices 5-8, and once again you think that no devices have been assigned and so (re-)assign the required device(s).
I'll add a check in the program to prevent the duplication of device assignments within a cue.

Beautiful, and makes sense, all things considered!

This additional check now ready for SCS 11.4.
