[Fix 11.2.1] Video Cues in 11.2.1rc4 play out of sequence

Mike, I was just trying out 11.2.1rc4, and I really think the video playback is outstanding. I've had intermittent issues with earlier versions not driving the second monitor consistently, and the new driver in 11.2.1rc4 appears to be rock solid. However, the underlying code is giving me fits. I put together a cue list consisting of 10 different .avi videos on different cues, and there appears to be two main concerns. 1 - the cues take a significant amount of time to start - there is a lag between the time the cue is initiated, and the time the video actually begins. Sometimes on the order of several seconds. 2 - the individual cues do not necessarily play the designated video files. It appears there is some mismatch between the filename displayed in the cue listing, and the one that is actually initiated. I'm not sure if these two issues are related, but they may very well be. I'm hoping this is an issue that you can easily recreate. If not, let me know, and I can send you specific files.

I also tried using .mp4 versions of the files instead of .avi, and the .mp4 files tended to get stuck - locking up the program.

The issue of the wrong file being played I have also found and have now fixed.

The time lag between initiating the cue and the video starting is something I've contacted VisioForge about, but unfortunately they are not prepared to fix that. My request for a faster start up time was 'declined' without any explanation as to why. That's annoying because it really means that yet another video playback engine bites the dust. I've got two other video playback engines I'm currently investigating.

Thanks Mike. That stinks about VisioForge and their lack of partnership. But on the bright side - if it's VF causing the other .mp4 lockup issue, then it may be just as well that it is out of the running.

I'm getting some promising results with the latest version of xVideo, which was probably the best video playback library included in SCS 10. The version of xVideo used in SCS 10 didn't work in SCS 11, but the latest version does.

Dan, I'll package up a test program and email you a download link for this. I'd like to know if the test program will handle your files OK, including the mp4 files. May be a day or two before I can send you this.

I believe these issues are fixed in 11.2.1, which is using xVideo instead of VisioForge. Let me know if there are still some issues.

I had this problem too, but I think you fixed it. I was quite perturbed when it happened numerous times and I was losing face, but I saw an upgrade was available last week and got it, which seemed to do the trick. Phew! Thanks. Great work. I was born and bred on SFX, but SCS is fast becoming my new fave. (shhhh!)
