Show Cue System

Let me start by saying that I am a SCS newbie. I just purchased a standard license for our community theatre group and have set up my first show. I am running version v11.1.5 on a Windows XP laptop and so far I'm loving working with the software.

However I keep running into a problem with one of my cues that's got me perplexed. The cue links to an mp3 audio file in my Production Folder. Every time I load up the show file, the link to the audio file disappears though all other details about the cue remain intact. So I relink to the audio file, resave my cue file and close out the software. I reboot the software, load up the show file and voila...the cue once again has is missing the linked audio file.

Was thinking it could be a source file issue (I had read it was safer to work with WAV files) but the strange thing is that the same source file is used 3 other times in the show and this is the only cue where the link to the source file keeps disappearing.

I would prefer not to rebuild the cue (there are other sub-cues tied to it I'm hoping to not have to reprogram) and for now, I can just relink the audio file each time I reboot the software. But I would love to know what might be causing this issue so that I can avoid it for the next show I set up.

Could you email me a diagnostic dump file and tell me which cue is the problem? You can create this file by starting SCS and selecting 'Create Diagnostic Dump File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Dumps" under "Documents" or "My Documents".

Thanks for the dump file and screenshot, Stuart. As explained in my emailed reply, the problem appears to be an error condition that SCS doesn't appear to be handling correctly.

As your screenshot shows, in Q200 you have an 'End At' position of 7.133 seconds, but the file is only 6.844 seconds long. Had you shortened the file at some stage? Or do you recall any other way in which the end position of 7.133 could have been set?

When you converted the file to WAV format, I suspect the reason that then worked is that changing the file caused SCS to clear out the timing positions, including 'End At'.

Edit: It now appears that the reported file length of 6.844 seconds is incorrect - the file is actually 10.107 seconds long. So possibly the file length was saved incorrectly by an earlier save of the cue file and this shorter time then threw the 'sanity check' that SCS performs on opening a cue file.
