[Fix 11.7.1] Playlist stops playing - track 'Not loaded'

Hi Mike,

Here's an interesting one. We are doing a show this week and during the first performance the playlist that we had set to play music during entry of the audience stopped playing. The operator thought the program/computer had crashed and didn't know how to recover, so the first half of the show proceeded without sound cues (much to the annoyance of the Director) until one of my colleagues was able to rescue the situation. At first he thought it might have been a problem with the particular computer we were using and so replaced it with another, but the next night a similar thing happened.

When my colleague demonstrated the issue to me I noticed that one of the playlist files that had already played was now showing as 'Not loaded' in the cue list which would account for the playlist suddenly stopping. I got hold of the cue file and was able to reduce it to a minimum whilst still exhibiting the error. I will email you this cue file plus the required audio files as it is too large to attach to this bug report.

The playlist now only contains 4 tracks (there were more in the original), has a wait time between tracks of 1 sec (it was 3 secs in the original) and is set to repeat at the end. To speed up testing I reduced the playing time of each track to just 5 secs in the test cue file.

The symptom of the problem is that after playing what is now track 2 (Hailee Shenfield - Rock Bottom) the playlist does not proceed to play the third track but instead reverts to the beginning of the list and stops, with the Next Manual cue showing as Cue 1 again and the main cue list as per the screenshot in the zip file with track 2 showing 'Not loaded'. Even when there were more tracks in the list the fault always occured after this particular track has finished playing so whether it is something odd about the format of that particular audio file I don't know.

The problem seems to be related to setting a wait time between tracks in the playlist. If I remove the transition and set it to 'None' all the tracks in the playlist play and the list repeats when it gets to the end. This is what we did to get around the problem for the remainder of the show.

It may or may not be a symptom of the same problem but to speed up testing even more I tried reducing the length of each track to only 3 secs. However, when I play the cue, although the display of track 1 in the main window stops, the track continues playing all the way through. Obviously this is not a realistic condition in practice but I found it interesting and perhaps might shed light on the main problem.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am using the version 11.7.0.1 that you created for me a couple of weeks ago to resolve the issue with disabled sub-cues.

Sorry about that. I've found the cause of this and have a fix ready, but I guess you'd rather stay with the version you have for now as you have found a work-around. If you do want the fixed version then let me know.

Hi Mike,

I am just glad that you were able to find the fault and fix it. As we have a work around we are not in a hurry for the fix and will wait until the next release.
