I am currently using SCS11.7 and enjoy the program very much. Every couple of times I try to "save" a change to an open show file I get an error message that says: "Trying to rename Broadway at the Ballet.$$$ to Broadway at the Ballet.scs11 has failed. This may be due to a permissions failure in updating filed in C:\Users\T305\Dropbox\Broadway at the Ballet\Broadway at the Ballet SCS Files\."
When this happens, I check and find that my original SCS11 file has been changed to end not with .SCS11 but instead .$$$. This revised file extension is of course not recognized by SCS so I have to change the file extension back to .scs11 in order to move forward.
This error does not diagnosis file so I suspect this does not actually have to do with the SCS program. However I only get this error message when working with SCS and it happens on any of my several laptops and desktop computers.
Any advice?
Thanks, Rob

Re: Error Message "Trying to Rename File.$$$
Maybe it's a permissions problem with your dropbox.
When SCS saves the cue file Ballet.scs11, it first of all creates Ballet.$$$ in the same folder as Ballet.scs11, and then writes your latest cue info etc to this Ballet.$$$ file. When Ballet.$$$ has been successfully created and written, SCS then renames Ballet.scs11 to Ballet.bak (after deleting any existing Ballet.bak). Finally, SCS renames Ballet.$$$ to Ballet.scs11.
From your explanation it appears that just this final step is failing, especially if the file Ballet.scs11 no longer exists. Does the file Ballet.bak exist, and if so does it contain the previous version of the cue file?

Re: Error Message "Trying to Rename File.$$$
I had sometimes this problem with dropbox folders. I had this problem with onedrive folders too.
I use to work with the project in a separated folder and I copy it to the shared folder when the work is finished.
