I am thinking of buying a new mixer for our theatre productions, the Behringer X32. First, does anyone have experience with this mixer and/or with SCS. The great thing about new digital mixers is they can send/receive 32 channels of sound from the computer, meaning I can send 16 stereo tracks from SCS to the mixer if I like. I usually use 3 to 4 for my shows. But my real question concerns inputs.
My question is can SCS support the inputs, e.g. 8 wireless mics plus some PZM auditorium mics, and route them to another SCS program running on a different computer in the green room which outputs them to a USB box so that someone there can monitor the mics for mic checks and to a TV for green room sound. I am hoping that with live inputs, SMS, and networked sound streams, that this is either possible now, or perhaps in the future if it makes sense for the product. This can eliminate the need for more digital snakes which are expensive. Or for the sound board mixer to do mic checks.
If this is not possible, can I run another program to access those ASIO input channels and stream them over wireless? I am afraid that if SCS is using the ASIO driver for the mixer to output to the mixer, that another pgm cannot use the inputs from the mixer.
If anyone thinks this is a useful feature, please comment. Or if you have suggestions or comments on how you do this, please share them.
