Mask over video

Post by Soundbloke » Sun Dec 03, 2017 10:12 pm

It would be nice if it was possible to have a mask over a video clip.
A scenario has occurred several times in the past and now again where videos have been made for our pantos that are to be projected onto a gauze in the *non-rectangular* proscenium opening. Currently, I am simply making a black and white image and applying it as an alpha mask (multiply) layer to the clip in an editing program and then re-rendering the clip.
For obvious reasons, it would be great to be able to do this more spontaneously within SCS. i.e. the ability to have a mask image to hide an area of a video clip.

Thoughts?

I vote for this idea.
A multi-line mask could be useful too.

I totally agree. That is a must have item.
If this feature gets added, SCS will be marvelous.

Beeing able to mask a Screen - be it a projector or an actual tv screen - is vital if you work with video.

Because in theater you seldom have a flat surface to project on. Having Masks would be a great time saver.

As Soundbloke says, there is a "work-around" i.e. rendering the mask directly onto the video with a third party program
like After Effects etc. but this is time consuming and you can't even make the tiniest adjustments to the mask without
rerendering each and every video again.

Would be really great to see this feature added in the upcoming versions.

Love!
