Black frame when video starts

Hi,
New to SCS. Is there a way to have a video cue start playing without having a frame of black pop up when the clip starts?
I'm trying to go from a still image into a video clip that starts off with the same still image so that there would appear to be a seamless transition from the still to the video clip. But the black frame that pops up when the video clip starts is thwarting my plan.
Thanks,
David

You can minimize the length of the black by (a) selecting xVideo as your Video Playback option, and (b) setting your video cue to autostart before the end of the image cue, eg autostart 0.5 second before the end of the 'previous cue'. I've run a few tests and that combination gives me the best results.

Just worked out a better way - and seamless. Timings in the following are suggestions, so adjust them to suit your needs.
Instead of having a still image file displayed before your video, include that image at the start of your video file, static (ie displaying a still image) for at least one second. In SCS set up 3 cues as follows:
Q1: Video cue to play the video file mentioned above.
Q2: SFR cue to 'Pause and Hibernate' Q1, set to auto-start 0.9 second after the start of Q1.
Now when you start Q1 a still image will be displayed and Q2 will automatically pause the video while it is still playing the still image.
Q3: SFR cue to 'Resume Hibernating Cue' Q1. Activate this cue when you want to start the main part of the video.
btw, 'Hibernating' just means that the cue disappears from the cue panels in the lower part of the screen until the cue is resumed. Hibernating does not affect the video image displayed, so a still image of the video will continue to be displayed even while the cue is 'hibernating'.

Excellent! That works great,
I guess in theory, I could set up a single video for the entire show with a lot of pause & hibernates set whenever I wanted to go to a still.

Mike: That's an excellent tip . . something I hadn't realised before . . will give it a go!
David: As you said, in theory you could produce one video and use SFR cues to control it throughout the show. However, I would be wary of doing that as you would have a problem finding your position in the video if something went wrong, or a change had to be made, during the show . . . just a thought!
