Use SCS as the basis for show control

Post by scottproaudio » Tue Dec 27, 2011 4:40 pm

After using SCS for quite a while it occured to me that it would be a great tool for show control. Using either a VGA splitter or a VPN the SCS screen can be sent to multiple display screens throughout the venue to keep all show crew and performers informed where the show was up to at any one time. On a recent School Spectacular we used SCS for this purpose. Screens were located at Audio FOH and Monitors. Lighting, both Fixed and Moving, Video and back stage using video splitting and VGA to composite conversions and in line video amplifiers for the longer runs (80metres). The backing track cues were straight forward but "Live" items were represented by a Note Cue with basic information on them to indicate if was the Orchestra or the Stage Band providing the backing. All pre show, interval and post show announcements were pre-recorded and allocated cues in the show file at the appropriate place. Lighting used the timer option to display the count down timer for all backing tracks to write cues. Video used the SCS information to select the information for each item that would be fed to 4 projector screens throughout the audience area. Backstage used the SCS screen to keep up with the show order and because one of the matinees required a change of order we could do it on the fly so they new well ahead of the changes. I hope this gives some of you another option for this great piece of software.
