Normally I use an SCS playlist of songs for house music before the show, during intermission, and after the show but for a show I am working on now it was easier for me to use an existing playlist in Spotify. If you have Spotify Premium, you can download the playlist locally so there is no network dependencies. However, I didn't have a good way of starting and stopping the music other than manually switching back and forth between SCS and Spotify.
After some searching I came across this tool https://github.com/InvalidCastEx/Comman ... umentation which allows Spotify to be controlled through a command-line interface, and thus through an SCS External Command Que.
So now I can have cues in SCS that start and stop the house music when I need it. Just one less thing to have to worry about.
Controlling Spotify from SCS
Re: Controlling Spotify from SCS
Acheslow,
We recently looked closer at Spotify T&C's and have discovered that their licensing do not allow you to use Spotify in a public event, it's only private use.
So your call entirely but I would have thought that Spotify would have seen any theatre as a public event - probably even with a paying audience.
Just trying to keep you on the right side of the law. Incidentally most of the other streaming services are the same. I believe there are that do allow public performances, but they are really costly.
