Hi

I am looking at purchasing this program for a theatre and I would like to know a couple things before, I am wondering if there is a way to network 2 computers running SCS so there is one that would be in a rack in the booth and then a laptop for at the tech tables running the program so that the main computer can be controlled and edited, remotely. I am also wondering if there is a way to make a control device with a couple big buttons on it, to control the GO and STOP functions, I have been looking at Midi trigger and serial. Is there anything out there that people know works.

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi,
The networking can be done easily using remote desktop in XP, we use it all the while for tech rehearsals, laptop in auditorium running remote desktop over wireless so it controls the main computer which is running SCS.

For buttons use a cheap USB numeric keypad, works perfectly :D

Hi Sparky,

We simply use a KVM Extender system sold under the "ATEN" brand (though there are many of them out there). It is a little box that inserts between the booth computer and its Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse, and then connects via cat-5 to another Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse on the production desk. You can use both sets at once. Much cheaper than using two computers, though if you want to go that route, you'd be better to use VNC or a similar remote-control program ( or as Boswell says - remote desktop) running on the prod desk computer, rather than trying to network two instances of SCS.

Cheers,
nick
