Space bar problem

This is a very weird and annoying problem.
I have a set up PC at home, and a travel laptop to take to the theatre. I have set up a new show at home, got it just as I want it, transfer to the laptop, and wham! The space bar activation of cue on the laptop doesn't work!
All the settings are identical, and on the home pc the space bar works. I copied all the sound files across, as I have before.
What am I missing?

Sorry, didn't say - it's version 9.3.6. and it worked fine with the last show.
OK, one more thing, I've just reloaded the last show, and that now doesn't work on the space bar either.
So I have altered some setting somewhere that affects the keyboard. It works OK in notepad, so i am stumped.
Any ideas?

Ok, now have upgraded to 9.4.6, still the same!
I know I am going to feel stupid, as it must be something really easy!

Mmmm, OK, restarted laptop again, and now all is OK.
It's things like this that scare me! I'll use this in rehearsals and see how it goes.
Thanks

It sounds a bit like 'focus' is set somewhere that doesn't recognise keyboard entry. I guess you would find that if space bar activation doesn't work then neither do hot keys. I don't know why this would be happening but to force focus to a recognised position just click on the first cue in the cue list when SCS has completed loading. You should then find space bar activation works.
Regarding the position of the 'focus', when you start SCS focus should be set on the first cue in the cue list. This is the final action taken by the timer that kills the splash screen. If focus is there then you should see a dotted line around that first cue. Do you see that dotted line?

I was aware of the 'focus' as it had caught me out in the theatre before, so I was clicking all over the panel, it was defintely focussed. I even ran the same setup on the home PC, which was fine. It was most puzzling. I do not recall the dotted line though.
All I can think is the laptop had got into a 'state' which only a cold reboot would clear. I do tend to leave laptops in the 'sleep' mode, but when using in anger in the theatre, they are always switched off and started clean.
I will continue to monitor it.
Thanks Mike!
