Hi-
Our M-Audio 410 has become unreliable and we have temporarily reverted to the Realteck 7.1 HD audio on the motherboard. Everything seems to work okay, except the SCS pan control. The sound always comes out of both sides of the stereo pairs, ignoring the SCS pan setting.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions of things to try? Our show (The Grapes of Wrath) opens on Thursday.

Panning on Realtek HD sound on motherboard
To quote from the Help File "If you use Speaker Selection then Pan is not available for audio file sub-cues that use that output, even if the Speaker Selection nominates a stereo pair of speakers. If you want to set the Pan position then currently you MUST leave the Speaker Selection blank for that sound device."
This could be the reason for your panning problem.

Following on from Malcolm's reply, if your main panning requirement is one particular stereo pair then make sure that physical speaker pair is connected to the 'Front' outputs of the Realteck. In the Production Properties in SCS assign that Device Name Used in Cues to the Realteck Physical Device, and leave the Speaker(s) field for that entry blank. You will now be able to pan output to that device.
For other devices, where you do need to nominate Speaker(s), you will not be able to pan the outputs, as Malcolm has said. However, if you just have a mono sound that is to play thru a single speaker you could set up a device pointing to that single speaker.
I am currently working on changes to support panning where speakers are assigned.

Thanks Gentlemen
Thanks, Malcolm and Mike. I guess we'll have to convert all our cues to mono and assign 8 specific speakers instead of 4 stereo pairs.
