Delays in email processing

We have been experiencing delays of an hour or more in sending automated emails, such as emails with your password or registration details. I have been in touch with our service provider and they found a large quantity of junk/spam emails in the server mail queue for all clients (not just us). They have cleared the junk and spam and reponse now seems OK.
