9.4.4 Sync problems

Post by sound » Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:11 am

Hi,

Sync problem 1:
New audio file cue Q1 - Pink noise
New audio file cue Q2 - same file as Q1 and same device, Autostart set to 0sec after start of Q1
Only Q1 can be heard
Back in the Editor - change the pan control and then change it back to center - Save.
Now both Q1 and Q2 can be heard

Sync problem 2:
Same setup as above.
Start Q1 and then lower the level of Q1 and bring it back - the 2 files are now off and phasing can be heard. Everytime that manual level change is performed it gets worse.

Sync problem 3:
audio file cue Q1<1> - Pink noise level set to -3
audio file Subcue Q1<2> - Pink noise level set to -96
Level change Cue Q2 autostart 10sec after start of Q1, required new level for Q1<1> -96 Duration 5sec linear
Level change Cue Q3 autostart 10sec after start of Q1, required new level for Q1<2> -3 Duration 5sec linear

This should result in hearing no level change and this works fine EXCEPT for the first time after opening the Sound Cue File. When Q2 and Q3 fire the level goes down a few db and then comes back to normal. Running Q1 again (without closing the cue file) works as expected.

Greetings,
Walter

Sync problem 1:
New audio file cue Q1 - Pink noise
New audio file cue Q2 - same file as Q1 and same device, Autostart set to 0sec after start of Q1
Only Q1 can be heard
With this scenario SCS links Q2 to Q1, but it seems this linking is not occurring when the Editor first sets up the cues. I'll look into this.
Sync problem 2:
Same setup as above.
Start Q1 and then lower the level of Q1 and bring it back - the 2 files are now off and phasing can be heard. Everytime that manual level change is performed it gets worse.
Can't reproduce this with my pink noise file - everything stays in sync as far as I can tell, even with manual level changes. Can you email me your pink noise file?

Yes, I notice a slight drop in level. I'll look into this.

Played with it a little more today and unfortunately I wasn't able to find a pattern to reproduce it reliably. Will do some more testing tomorrow and I'll let you know as soon as I find out more.

Thanks and greetings,
Walter
