Show Cue System

'still loving the program; can't wait for Ver 9...I'm using 843 right now, and every once in a while, a cue will playback w/a litle "crackling" sound underneath, kind of a vague "popping" under the sound itself. This happens w/wavfiles & mp3s...it's usually not the same cue twice, and closing SCS and reopening it usually solves the problem right away...

the rig SCS is running on right now is a PIII 500mHz with 512 meg of ram and an Echo Gina card installed...

I wondered if you, or anyone on the forum'd run into this and if you were able to identify the cause (since I'm in an off-Broadway house in NYC, I'm thinking a power issue or somesuch)...

Does the crackling occur during fades or just during normal playback? If during fades, are the fades linear or log? If the problem goes away on reloading SCS, it could be memory related. Try increasing the playback buffer length (View / Options / Audio Driver). The default length is 500ms, so I suggest you increase that to 1000ms or even higher.

Also, as you have good sound card, make sure the checkbox 'Use Software Mixer instead of Hardware Mixer' is cleared, not checked.

thanks for the (as ever) prompt response; the crackling occurs (when it occurs) during normal playback...I'll check the buffer size & the sound card setup...
